Downward Dogs
Downward Dogs makes health and wellness accessible through no-cost yoga classes. Participants learn a wide range of poses including advanced techniques. Every class focuses on relieving stress and improving mobility. Our president Chris has been a certified instructor for almost three years. This service is available to anyone in need. Make this your new weekly highlight.
What to expect
We will begin with a gentle warm up and end with a quiet period of rest. During class, we will practice several poses designed to work different parts of the body. These poses will help improve balance and core strength. We will do a mix of sitting and standing series to ensure you get the maximum benefit out of your practice.
If you require modifications, Chris can give you alternative methods to complete the pose. You are never expected to complete any pose. We believe your practice is your own and you should do what feels right for your body.
We cannot provide equipment; however, retail stores offer a lot of options. All you really need is a yoga mat or a non-slip surface, and we have other recommendations that can be found in our frequently asked questions.
Most of our classes are done through video conference software. You do not need your camera to be on to practice with us; however, we do recommend you keep your camera on to ensure Chris can help you as you need it.
How do you benefit from yoga?
Research provided by leading health organizations highlights several physical advantages of regular yoga. These sessions build muscle tone and increase your overall range of motion. Holding specific poses enhances your physical coordination and improves your daily posture. Keeping your joints supple protects your body against future strains.
The mental advantages are just as impactful for your overall well-being. Deep breathing techniques calm the nervous system and help lower daily anxiety. You will notice a significant reduction in stress and a noticeable improvement in sleep quality; and the practice encourages better balance and sharpens your mental focus. The meditative aspects cultivate inner peace and provide a much-needed mental reset.
Combining these physical and mental aspects creates a holistic approach to your health. Many participants enjoy boosted energy levels and experience a greater sense of bodily awareness. Yoga provides a supportive environment to heal your body and quiet your mind. These movements offer a sustainable path to maintaining long-term wellness.
